Staff - Code Of
Conduct and Rules
Attitudes
- Personal, negative feelings about any player should be totally put
aside when they are in need of your assistance.
- When a staff member is helping a player in game or outside the game
with a ShadowLands query or problem, full attention and politeness should
be applied by the staff member.
- Racism and/or ethnic abuse will not be tolerated by anyone especially
the ShadowLands staff. Any breach of this conduct will result in a reconsideration
of their role within the shard and their likely dismissal.
- Harassment by any member of ShadowLands, whether it be by a player
or a staff member of another person/persons connected with the project,
will be taken very seriously.
Rewards
- Staff are not allowed to give out items to players without the player
having earned it.
- If an event has taken place and a reward has been considered appropriate
then it will be given, however the reward should:
- Fit the event.
- Not give the player rewarded an advantage in the game against
other players.
- Be of a decorative nature only (IE a small commemorative item,
so that the player can show his/her achievement to others).
- Should never be newbied or of too much value.
Events
- We welcome members of staff organising events, however the event
needs to be given the OK by an admin first.
- Councellors are not allowed to make shard wide announcements about
their events, whether they be a PvP or a quest etc. A Councellor can
however organise small player unannounced events involving just a few
players. Although these small events don't have to have been given the
all clear by an admin but they should be announced in the staff channel
to make sure they don't conflict with any other event take place at
the time.
- GameMasters are allowed to run the small events (item 2 above), plus
they are allowed to run world announced events. However they are required
to obtain the correct go ahead from the admin staff first.
- Seers, basically the rules of a GM apply to a Seer.
- Admin, well its your shard... all the rules apply to you as to everyone,
but to be honest, I cant tell you what you aren't allowed to get up
to ;) B***ards...
- All events, whether it is a small Councellor run quest, for only
2 men, or a large shard wide Admin run event, should be logged so that
other staff can run their events in the up to date knowledge of what
is happening elsewhere.
Speech
- Staff should use polite speech when talking with one another or players
in the game.
- Staff should also bear in mind that the shard works on the basis
of good nature and we find that a good natured shard stays good natured
because the staff are good natured. What better way to demonstrate this
good nature than by taking the time to converse in a polite and considerate
manner towards other members of the shard.
Clothing
A member of staff is to choose a hue or colour range unique to himself/herself
from any other member of the ShadowLands team and register this colour
to an admin.
This colour is to be his/her tag when they are working on the shard using
their staff character.
This hue cannot be changed dependent on the staff feeling or mood at the
time. If you wish to change this colour you should have to ok this with
admin first.
This set hue to staff members is being used to let players identify themselves
with the staff as an individual. The other plan was to use a colour set
to a staff position on the shard. (IE red for Gm and blue for Councellors.)
Some Miscellaneous Rules
- Staff are not allowed to change players stats and/or skills under
any circumstances. If a player complains for instance about a loss of
his stats or skills then this should be reported to admin for them to
check the shard logs to verify the claims made by the player.
- Staff abusing their powers will be considered as a very serious offence
towards the trust the shard organizers placed on there staff. If you
are found to have abused your position then we shall we forced to consider
deeply your involvement in the development of the shard's future.
- If a staff member feels threatened by any member of the ShadowLands
community, whether it be a player of the shard or another staff member,
he/she should apply for the help from another staff member/person in
looking into and monitoring the situation.
- If a staff member finds himself/herself in the situation of being
tormented by a player then the staff member should either consider jailing
the offending player or should leave the situation for another helper
to take over.
- Jailing a player should be considered by staff as a very serious
course of events and this option shouldn't be used lightly. If a problem
arises that a staff member thinks he can't handle then it should be
reported, but jailing a player after only a few moments is considered
as a poor attempt at handling the situation.
