Player Rules

Please read this section to keep informed of what is and what isn't allowed. We urge all players to use their own common sense in their actions. If you know something you are doing is obviously wrong (bug exploiting etc.) then just don't do it and report to a staff member. We are not unreasonable people, so don't do anything blatantly stupid and all will be fine.

If you don't abide by any of these terms you will be taken to the ShadowLands Courthouse, tried and if found guilty you will be jailed.  If you repeatedly comit any of these offences you may incur a temporary account ban. Continuation will result in a permanent ban and deletion of your account. Admins Reserve the right to kick/ban/jail any person for whatever reason they see fit.

1) Always keep up to date on the rules

Ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse to avoid punishment. Visit the rules page regularly because rules may change , and of course we are not infallible and will have to edit the rules as new problem and exploits pop up in the game.

2) Promotion/Advertising of Other Shards

This is not the proper forum to advertise other shards. It is downright rude. You will be banned from the shard if you do so.

3) Bug Exploiting

Don't do it! report bugs to a Staff member immediately. If caught the consequences will be severe.

4) Guards

No harassment of other players or staff members will be tolerated. If you wish to insult someone, think of a way to do so in a creative manner and then e-mail/Pm them! Saying "f&#$ you @$#hole" just makes you look lame and will you will be disciplined if warranted. If someone is stalking and harassing you, you may page about this. Please be able to prove that they did. We have access to logs and can tell if you are lying.

5) Blocking access

There will be no blocking of telepads, ankhs, doors or any other publicly available place or item!. Anyone caught blocking will be jailed for 3 days. Houses placed next to dungeon entrances will be filled with monsters by staff so its not a good idea.

6) Spamming

Do not Spam! Spamming is hated by everyone.

7) Stats/Skills/Items

A GM will not replace your stats/skills/items. If you experience stat/skill loss, please email admin@shadowlands.netgamers.co.uk. We will look through a previous worldfile to verify your skill/stat loss. If you email falsely for this kind of problem, you will be banned (by Admin). Do not badger staff about this online or even mention it.

8) Macroing

Macroing is allowed within reason. Don't macro in public and use common sense when macroing (i.e. don't abuse bugs when macroing).

9) "AFK" Macroing

If you are caught AFK (Away From Keyboard) Macroing (macroing on vendor, inanimate objects, or in anti-magic zones or speed macroing) your bank will be deleted (lose all items in bank) and you will be jailed for one week. We make the rounds often so it's just not worth it to get caught.

10) Player Killing

One simple rule, Repeated killing will not be tolerated in any manner, this entails if you kill a player then without provocation kill them again in a short period after. Short period means anything under 2 minutes.

11) Houses

Houses are not 100% safe. From time to time people may find ways to get into your house. use the bank for important items. Items lost from house lootings will not be replaced. Player houses, castles, tents, towers etc.. must be placed at least 5 steps away from a pathway or entrance to a public area.

12) Paging Staff

Do not repeatedly page staff member about any issue. Do not include insults or profanity in your pages. Do not abuse the paging system. Staff are not your insta-res or taxi service, and they also will not give you stats, items, or help you out in any way. Staff will not teleport you anywhere unless you are stuck. Pages like "Help!", "Is there a GM online?" or "I'm new!" will be promptly deleted without an answer. Pages need to be specific as to your need (I.E. "My guild stone disappeared"). Please be patient, a staff member will get to you as soon as possible. Note: Spam Paging is useless and will be ignored.

13) Complaining

No complaining/whining. "This quest sucks". "You stupid gm". Are very very quick ways to get yourself jailed. If you feel you have been wronged, email admin@shadowlands.netgamers.co.uk and your problem will be looked into. Posting on the message board with things such as "You suck Gm's" will get your suggestion ignored and probably your access to the board revoked. Don't think that just because a Staff member isn't around that we can't hear you!

14) Disrespect of Staff

Staff will not tolerate players being disrespectful, rude or vulgar. Disrespectful players will be jailed without warning. All of the staff members volunteer their time to help out. They are all veteran players and will not take abuse from other players. If for any reason you have a problem with one of the Staff Members never cause a scene within the game, e-mail admin@shadowlands.netgamers.co.uk and and your problem will be solved quickly.

15) Arguing with Staff

The staff is always right. If a staff member makes a decision either deal with it or leave. The staff here are friendly but they will not tolerate asshole remarks and/or bitching so please show some respect. After a staff member has made a decision live with it! Do not answer with "aw come on" or "you don't believe me?" This is considered badgering and will get you jailed!

16) Impersonating Staff

Impersonating staff in any way whatsoever, or pretending you are staff or have access to staff privileges will get you banned and or jailed. Do not pretend you are staff, you will regret it. This is in UO and on the Message board.

17) Applying for a staff account

Do not ask to be staff (Counselor, Seer, GM, Admin, whatever). The answer will be a firm no. Asking repeatedly will probably just end up getting you jailed. The Admin watch and talk to the players on my shard.

18) Contraband Items

All items that cannot be created or found by players on monsters are contraband. This means they are illegal and you will have them removed, you jailed for possession. I think most people have enough common sense to know what is contraband and what is not, either page for the items to be removed or trash them yourself.

19) Speedhack

Using speedhack will get you jailed and the title "Speedhacker" added to your character. Multiple speedhack offences will result in banning.

20) Hacking the Server

Attempting to exploit holes in the server will get you in serious trouble. The authorities will be notified, your ISP will be notified, and if you really fuck up you will attract the attention of the staff and/or many of the dedicated players who happen to know a thing or two about network security in which case you would be hurting, so don't be a fool.
